Little Tree Huggers is a Hygge-Waldorf inspired Education Hub and we're officially now open within the Old Church Halls in the village of Long Melford.
We’re a community rooted in kindness, fun and flexibility with a deep commitment to building meaningful connections with every child and their family.
We’re dedicated to providing a warm, nurturing space where all families can thrive, enjoy fun-filled days, learn skills for life, connect with nature, themselves and others, make meaningful memories and form long lasting friendships.
Hygge is a Danish term (pronounced hoo-gah), which doesn’t translate cleanly into English, but you feel it the moment you experience it. It’s a sense of deep cosiness and contentment, warmth, simplicity, and being present, enjoying small pleasures without rushing, creating an atmosphere where you feel safe, relaxed, and connected. It’s less about objects and more about a mood - where the world feels gentle for a moment.
Waldorf education is a holistic approach to learning that nurtures the intellectual, emotional, physical and creative development of each child. Founded by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, it places equal importance on academic achievement, artistic expression, practical skills and social consciousness.
At the heart of Waldorf education is the belief that children learn best when teaching is developmentally appropriate, engaging and meaningful. Through story-telling, movement, music, handcrafts, nature-based experiences, and rich academic learning, children develop curiosity, confidence, resilience and a life-long love of learning.
Waldorf education is aimed at the whole child, helping them grow into thoughtful, capable and compassionate individuals who can contribute positively to the world around them.
Little Tree Huggers offer holistic, wholesome Waldorf drop off sessions during term-time. September 2026 enrolments are now open.
Little Tree Huggers loves bringing whole family sessions to the community. These are a complete mix of educational sessions and social events.
Little Tree Huggers run wholesome, screen-free, fun-filled holiday clubs during the school holidays, for all children 3 to 12 years of age.
From 2027, Little Tree Huggers hope to bring affordable educational trips around the world to our curious explorers and HE community.
We hope to open a small Nursery very soon. This will be a beautiful, little nurturing nook for all babies and children under the age of three.
